You know those songs that know matter what age you are, you find timeless, and find that you can't help but hum them over and over? Jack Tempchin is one of the most prolific song writers around responsible for such timeless classics as the Eagles "PeaceFul Easy Feeling" and many many more.. Do not Miss him on our Zen stage!
Jack Tempchin began his career playing San Diego coffeehouses and hoot nights alongside the Eagles, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther and others. He became a principal co-architect of the 1970s country-rock movement simply known as The Southern California Sound.
Most amazing ,this relatively unknown songwriter penned two classic hits for The Eagles: ‘Peaceful Easy Feeling’ and ‘Already Gone’. Both are on The Eagles: Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, which at 30 million domestic units sold, was awarded by the RIAA as best selling U.S. release of the 20th century.
In the 1970s, he also wrote ‘Slow Dancing’ for Johnny Rivers, a huge comeback hit charting on Billboard at #10. In the 1980s, Tempchin co-wrote a dozen hits with Glenn Frey for Frey’s solo career. In 1994, he and Frey co-wrote a song for the The Eagles ‘Hell Freezes Over’ reunion CD. In 2007, he landed two more co-writes on the multiplatinum release by The Eagles, ‘Long Road Out Of Eden’ CD.
Over his 45 year career, Tempchin has penned tunes for many artists including: George Jones, Emmylou Harris, Glen Campbell, Tanya Tucker, Chris Hillman, Randy Meisner, Patty Loveless, Richie Havens, NRPS and many others. His songs have also been featured in hit movies, The Big Lebowski and Thelma & Louise to name a few.
